Southeast encounter of astrophotography - Saltao
The colors result from a great mixture of objects and processes that occur there. The fine dust illuminated from the front from the stellar light produces the blue reflection nebulae. The clouds of gases that have their atoms excited by ultraviolet radiation produce emission nebulae. The clouds of dust illuminated from behind block the passage of light and therefore appear dark. Antares, a super giant red stele and one of the brightest stars in the night sky illuminates the reddish yellow clouds in the lower central part of the image. The Rho Ophiuchi star is located in the center of the blue nebula near the top of the image. The distant globular cluster M4 is visible a little to the right of the star Antares and to the lower left of the red cloud engulfing the star Sigma Scorpii. These stellar clouds are actually more colorful than we humans can see, emitting light through the entire electromagnetic spectrum.
