Arp 239 consists of NGC 5278 (UGC 8677, VV 19/19a and others), the spiral at the center interacting with NGC 5279 (UGC 8678, VV 19b and others), the spiral to the left (east). Part of the “Appearance of fission” class, these are located approximately 370 million light-years away in Ursa Major.

Imaged April 7th, 8th and 9th and May 3rd and 4th, 2018 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
