Barnard 343 is a dark nebula in Cygnus, not far from Sadr (gamma Cygni) and the Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888). It does not receive much attention from astrophotographers, perhaps because it is considered little more than a featureless blob. However, this image does show there is detail within the dark cloud. It is silhouetted against a fairly faint region of hydrogen-alpha nebulosity.

Telescope/Mount: Celestron Compustar C14 with Astrophysics 0.75x focal reducer (f/8.3). Camera: SBIG STL 11000M with Baader Planetarium H-alpha, R, G, and B filters.
Location: Pommier Observatory, Portland, OR, USA.
Dates: 2015-08-16 through 2015-08-21.
Exposures: H-alpha:R:G:B=600:80:80:80=14 hours total exposure.
