Montes Apenninus Mountains on the Moon

on Thursday, November 10, 2016

I really thought the Montes Apenninus (Apenninus Mountains) on the moon looked stunning on the night of November 7, 2016. The moon was 52% illuminated really making the mountain pop. This mountain range is about 370 miles long with some of the peaks rising as high as 3.1 miles. The largest crater sitting to the northwest is called Archimedes.

Tech Specs: Canon 6D at prime focus of a Meade LX90 12” telescope, best 1000 frames of 3000 frames processed in AS!2 and final edit in Corel Paintshop (ISO 2000 and 1/400 second for each exposure). Image Date: November 7, 2016 Location: Weatherly, Pennsylvania.
