The Veil Nebula in Cygnus

This image is a labour of love. It is a 6 panel mosaic of the Veil nebula collected over the summer. The nebula is the supernova remmants of a star that exploded between 3000 - 6000BC, and it covers an area 36 times the area of the full moon. The image clearly shows material blasted out in a circular bubble from a central point where the large star once was. Wonderful thing the universe.

By the end I had collected 136 sub images (must have rejected a similar number) amounting to 23 hours of data with my William Optics 81mm refractor and narrowband filters. Learnt a lot and spent a deal of time processing the images.
