NGC 6717 (Palomar 9) – a globular cluster in Sagittarius

NGC 6717 is a globular cluster in the constellation Sagittarius hidden right next to the supergiant star Nu2 Sagittarii. It has a magnitude of 9.3 and represents a good challenge for your telescope. This cluster also bears the name Palomar 9, most of the Palomar globular clusters were discovered in the 1950’s using photographic plates from the first Palomar Observatory Sky Survey (POSS).
Tech Specs: This image is composed of 20 x 15 second images at ISO 3200 with additional dark and bias frames using a Meade LX90 12” telescope, Antares Focal Reducer, and Canon 6D camera. Imaging was done on September 27, 2016.
