Sharpless 2-171

Sharpless 171 (NGC 7822, Ced 214, DG 1 and others) is a large emission nebula located approximately 3,200 light-years away in Cepheus.

Luminance – 12x600s – 120 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

240 minutes total exposure – 4 hours

Imaged on October 11th and 12th, 2015 at the Danville Conservation Area (New Florence, Missouri) with a SBIG ST-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT90EDT at f/6.7 603mm.

I also used this as an opportunity to test out the Astronomical Society of Eastern Missouri’s recently modified Canon T1i.

27x300s – 135 minutes

Imaged October 11th, 2015 at the Danville Conservation Area (New Florence, Missouri) with a modified Canon T1i with a Canon 70-200mm f/4L USM lens at 200mm f/5.6. The resulting image is 6.62 x 4.41 degrees.
