Barnard 86 (LDN 93), also known as the ink spot nebula, is the very dark patch at the bottom right in this image. It is just to the west (right) of the open cluster NGC 6520. B86 is one of the Astronomy League’s Dark Nebula Program required objects.
Barnard 299 (LDN 120) is the dark patch east (left) of center. Faint globular NGC 6540 can be found straight below B299 near the bottom of the image.
This field also has several planetary nebulae. The brightest is the aqua blue IC 4673 that can be found above B86 in the dark nebula at the top right of the image.
This image was centered on HD 164867 located at -27 declination in Sagittarius. I imaged this between 15 and 20 degrees in altitude.
Luminance – 12x600s – 120 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2
240 minutes total exposure – 4 hours
Imaged over three nights in August and September, 2015 at the Danville Conservation Area (New Florence, Missouri) with a SBIG ST-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT90EDT at f/6.7 603mm.
