Sharpless 2–81

Sharpless 2-81 (LBN 160) is one of Sharpless’ mistakes. This very faint dust nebula doesn’t contain any hydrogen alpha. Sh 2-81 is located approximately 6,500 light-years away in Aquila. Sh 2-81 is the dust just to the right of the center of the image.

Asteroid 849 can be also be found at the bottom left.

Luminance – 12x600s – 120 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

240 minutes total exposure – 4 hours

Imaged August 12th, 2015 at the Danville Conservation Area (New Florence, Missouri) with a SBIG ST-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT90EDT at f/6.7 603mm.
