NGC 2841, a relatively nearby spiral galaxy in Ursa Major, is one of the more massive galaxies known. Its tightly wound spiral arms exhibit a delicate “flocculent” structure that demands good seeing to capture well. This image was captured with a 12.5" PlaneWave CDK telescope and a Quantum-Scientific 640-ws camera working at f/8. Total integration time using LRGB filters was about 6 hours, taken from a dark-sky site near Anza, CA.
