M109 is a barred spiral galaxy 84 million light-years from Earth. This image is the result of a collaborative effort between Sean Curry in Talent, Oregon and Rod Pommier in Portland, Oregon. We both began imaging M109 on the same night. Due to deteriorating weather conditions in Talent, Sean was only able to obtain luminance data. Weather remained clear in Portland for a while longer, permitting Rod to obtain RGB data. By re-sizing and rotating Rod's RGB data to match Sean's luminance data we were able to combine the two data sets into this this completed LRGB image of M109.

Acquisition data:
Luminance data by Sean Curry: Planewave CDK 12.5 telescope on AP 1200 mount, QSI 583wsg CCD camera. Quail Run Obsevatory, Talent, Oregon, USA
RGB data by Rod Pommier: Celestron Compustar C14, SBIG STL 11000M CCD camera, Baader Planetarium RGB filters, Pommier Observatory, Portland, Oregon, USA. Date 2014-04-30

Exposures: L:R:G:B=400:100:100:100 minutes=11 hours 40 minutes total exposure.
