The White Light image and Hydrogen Alpha image were captured just minutes apart. This was accomplished by moving the camera from one telescope to the next. The White Light image shows off the sun spots in great detail. While the Hydrogen Alpha image shows many surface features such as filaments, plages, a prominence, and sun spots as well as the granulation. The photo also demonstrates the differences visible using different filtering techniques and tools. If you study the two images carefully you will be able to match some of the visible features. One feature that is particularly interesting is the "hurricane" shapes of the sun spots. Each image was created by "stacking" approximately 10 captured images. Utilizing RegiStax6 and Photoshop CS6 the final photo.
