By David J. Eicher
The first powered aircraft in world history, the Wright Flyer, which flew four times December 17, 1903, at Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, NASM, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C., April 25, 2014. Note: when my father John was growing up in the 1930s, he lived on Ruskin Road in Dayton, Ohio, and he sometimes chatted with Orville Wright when the aircraft inventor visited his niece, Ivonette Wright Miller, who lived two houses away from the Eichers. Small world!
