This southern cluster is located in the constellation Vela (A ships sail). Located at a distance of 16,300 light-years from the center of the Milky Way it’s orbital velocity (490 km/s) about the galaxy is almost fast enough to escape the gravitational pull of the Milky Way. This cluster like other globular clusters is almost as old as the universe itself at 10.24 billion years of age. http://owlmountainobservatory.com/
