On the right of the image is an absorption nebula Barnard 86 is also sometimes called the Ink Spot Nebula, from which the stars of NGC 6520 formed The nebula is a Bok globule located about 500 light-years from us. This nebula contains much opaque dust that blocks light from the many stars that would have been visible in the background.
