Here is a picture of NGC 4565, also known as the Needle Galaxy. It is a spiral galaxy about 31 million light years away in the constellation Coma Berenices. Although it is a spiral galaxy, it looks thin because we are viewing it edge on as seen from earth. The galaxy is about 100,000 light years in diameter.
