M-81 also knows Bode's Galaxy because discovered by Johann Elert Bode in 1774 is a spiral galaxy about 12 million L-Y away in the constallation of Ursa Major.
Messier 81 is the largest Galaxy in the M-81 group of 34 Galaxies, the closest group of the local group.
