NGC 2264 (Sh2-273) is the collective designation for the Cone Nebula,
The Christmas Tree Cluster and The Fox Fur Nebula. This region lies
about 2600ly distant in the constellation Monoceros and contains
emission, absorption and reflection nebulosity. It was discovered on
December 26, 1785 by William Herschel.
