The Eagle Nebula is located close to the borders of the constellations of Serpens, Scutum and Sagittarius. It is an active star formation region of gas and dust which created open cluster M16 with very young stars. This process is still going on near the dark "elephant trunks" some 7000 light years away from us.

Image was taken in July 2010 from Mercedes, 110 km away from Buenos Aires, Argentina using a QSI 583 WS CCD camera and a SCT 8" socpe working slighly above f6.3. LHaRGB (80,24,20,20,24)
