The Trifid Nebula (M20)

M20 is a unique combination of open star cluster; emission nebula; reflection nebula and dark nebula (the apparent 'gaps' within the emission nebula that cause the Trifid appearance are designated as Barnard 85. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>The image was taken on July 2010 110 km away <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place><st1:City>Buenos Aires City</st1:City>, <st1:country-region>Argentina</st1:country-region></st1:place>. <o:p></o:p>Celestron SCT at f6.3; QSI 583 WS with Astronomiks filters and Meade LXD 75. LRGB (45,15,15,30) RBG binned2x2. <o:p></o:p>
