Conjunction of the Moon with the Pleiades

A beautiful conjunction  of the moon with the Pleiades, the most famous open star cluster in the sky occurred last night. This shot was captured few seconds before the disappearance of the 4.1 magnitude star  Merope, which is visible attached to the moon’s dark limb which is lit by earthshine.

Location  : Keratea, Greece.
2010/02/21, 19:19 UT.
Telescope : Sky Watcher ED 80
Camera      : Canon EOS 500D, ISO 400 , Exposure 0.5 sec
