During its final phases of construction, I tested my new 4.7-inch window telescope through my second story south-facing window last November 14. It worked reasonably well, even though only one of the four pieces of flexible plastic was in place. The clock drive accurately tracked Jupiter at about 150 power for about 30 minutes. The image was pretty good, but a fairly strong wind that night shook the telescope almost constantly. The vibrations were not as much of a problem at low power. I did not notice any astigmatism introduced by the 12-inch flat mirror in front of the objective lens. The outside air temperature was approximately 30 degrees F. lower than the temperature inside the room. I will continue to submit photos and descriptions of this telescope and relate any good results and problems. Being inside the warm room was fantastic!
