On the evening of July 3rd 2009 the skies to our west were clear affording my wife and I a wonderful view of the setting Sun. This image shows the lavender and ripples associated with volcanic ash and Sulfur Dioxide in the upper atmosphere from the eruption of the Sarychev Volcano in Russia. This Image was taken with a Canon EOS 50D with EF 28-135mm IS USM lens. The location is along side Queens Creek in Hubert, North Carolina USA.
