Here's a hand-held shot of the September 8th conjunction of the Moon and Venus taken with a Canon PowerShot SD980 IS point-and-shoot camera. Venus was 71% illuminated and was situated approximately 1 and 1/3 degrees to the northwest of the 13% illuminated Moon.
