This image shows how "tuning" and focusing in on a "region of Interest" can provide you different and very interesting views of the Sun. The image on the left shows the the Sun tuned to show maximum detail on the surface or photosphere. You see filaments, plages, and if you look hard enough you will see the sunspots. The center image shows what happens when you "flatten" out the tuning to reduce detail. The sunspots stand out. The image on the far right shows the sunspots imaged using electronic zoom in the software. You can see detail in the sunspots.
These images were captured using the Lunt 60mm Hydrogen Alpha solar telescope in the double stack configuration. The camera used is "The Imaging Source DMK-51 monochrome". Post production was done using Regi Stax 6 and Photo Shop CS6.
