Moon lies within a degree of Jupiter.  According to Astronomy Sky this Week, from eastern North America, the two appear nearest during the late evening hours; western North Americans see closest approach shortly after darkness falls.  I was able to take the picture using my Canon EOS Rebel XTi camera without attaching it to my telescope.
