NGC 300 is one of the closest and nearby galaxies in the southern sky and belongs to the Sculptor Group. It has a very low surface brightness and in perspective, several bright stars from our Milky Way take the contrast down.

The image was taken from Mercedes 100 km away from Buenos Aires using an 6” Orion UK reflector with a QSI 583 and Astronomiks filters. A total exposure of 3 hours was invested on this object on a clear night in October 2010
