Sun Dog at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska

Taken at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, 1:10pm AST, 28 October 2010, with Canon PowerShot SD950 IS, 7.7mm (wide angle).  The air was full of ice crystals which gave an eerie bright glow to the sun and clouds.  Shown here is just one of two rings around the Sun.  Opposite to the Sun, to the North, was another bright Sun Dog, albeit colorless and less bright.  We don't see this two-ring phenomenon too often up here!
