This image is the best 1,425 frames of more than 9,000 comprising 5 separate AVI files made in the course of about 8 minutes. Date was October 25, 2005, when Mars was near its closest approach. The processing used minimum wavelets in Registax, especially in the upper levels. I applied a strong combination of gamma correction (s-curve) and histogram stretch to maximize the information in the Created reference image, which was a stack of the 65 best frames of all. I applied 150% Lanczos resampling to get a larger image, then cropped to current frame size. AVIs were made with Philips ToUCam Pro 840K, Stellarvue 152mm apo, Televue 4X Powermate, and Hoya FL-D filter.
