About Michael Davis
I am an avid amateur astronomer and have been for over 40 years. To pay the bills I have been working as a News Director at a local radio station since December 2006. I spent 20 years in the USAF. My most memorable astronomical experience was a Halloween night whiile stationed in Okinawa Japan. I ran out of "treats" and set up my home-made 10" Dobson for kicks. The response was phenomonal! "This is better than candy" was the most memorable comment made as we watched a star slide behind the moon (I think it was 1992 and Neptune but I'm not sure.) Since that 10" Dobsonian I have upgraded to a Meade 105AT with the best innovation since Galileo looked thru two lenses in a tube; GOTO technology! At one time I succumbed to aperture fever but now realize portability wins out over aperture. If you can't see where you are, go someplace where you can!
