Total Solar Eclipse 7/22/09 with superimposed solar disk

The image of totality was obatined at 02:36 UT from the centerline north northeast of Iwo Jima.  The superimposed image of the sun was obtained immediately following first contact.  These images reveal the relative size of the lunar and solar disks which demonstrate the relatively large apparent size of the moon near apogee.  Both images were obtained with a Canon 20Da and a Tamron 28-300mm telephoto at 300mm.  The solar disk was filtered through a Thousand Oaks black poly film filter.  There is a small, nearly imperceptible notch in the solar image at first contact near 12 o'clock.

Nice photo. Wish there were some sunspots visible during this eclipse. Would have been spectacular then.

    Cheers,

    Aadil.
