Lunar eclipse over the National Observatory of Athens.

This is a photo of the eclipsed lunar disk alligned to the weathervane of the historic building of the National Observatory of Athens. It was built in 1842 by the Dane Architect Theophilus Hansen. From 1858 to 1884 it was directed by the famous German astronomer Julius Schmidt and it was the place where he made a series of important astronomical observations for his time, including his famous mapping of the moon.  February 21, 2008, 04:51 UT. Canon EOS 400D, Canon 70-200 F2.8 zoom lens at 165mm, ISO 200, exp. 1/20 second.
