    Canon XSI

I just got one and have a question.  Is there a setting anywhere on the camera that will let you click the shutter button and it will takke pictures every minute or so without clicking on the shutter button?  or do I need a remote to do that?

You can set a time delay for a single shot, otherwise to take multiple timed exposures you need the remote switch or interface it with your laptop using the EOS Utility.

Thank you.  They should have a setting on it to do timed shots over and over.  Maybe they can add that in their next model.

You will need the remote or a laptop that can run the Canon soft ware that came with the camera. If you use the Canon soft ware you can program the camera to do interval shots and for a give lenght of time. The Canon remote shutter release for the XSi is model # RS60 E3 and they run about $25. Your local camera store may carry them or Best Buy may also have them.

No Mary. You will have to press the button each time to take a shot and hold it for the duration of the shot The other alternative is to use the camera's self timer. Set the self timer to either 2 seconds or ten seconds. Press the shutter button half way to get focus and then all the way to begin the timer. Release the camera and it will time out and take the shot.

You can set the self timer to continious and it will take 10 shots in a row after a 10 second delay. I don't know how the camera will function in the dark though.

The only way to get the camera to take timed repetitive shots is using a computer and the EOS utility soft ware that came with the camera. There is no other way...

Tasco that must be some thing new as it's not shown in the owners manual. And the price is reasonable too. The end plug doesn't look right though. It's too large. My XSi takes the small head phone type plug.

    Re: Canon XSI

your right-- it does look longer, and it doesnt look right. but it does work in both my XT and XS, the XSi uses the same plug type, its the same length as my ADIDT-M1 remote, the button functions as a simple on/off with hold--- the mode settings are -timer countdown to begin, time between exposures, exposure length, and number of exposures- it begins the sequence using the start/stop button (it stops automatically anyway) and has a backlight for changing the settings in the dark

    Re: Canon XSI

Unfortunately I have to have two different remotes switches for both my Canon DSLRs, The remote switch for my XT/350D uses the small single pin male type plug while the 50D uses the squared 4 pin female plug. I also need a external shutter control switch for pre-programed Bulb exposures longer than 30 seconds for the XT/350D, and only need the single cable USB computer interface with the 50D. I think it would be best if she looked in the owners manual to get the correct item number before ordering anything. I keep that little book in my camera back pack even though I am comfortably familiar with all the dials and buttons along with all the camera functions.

I have dog eared several pages in the O manual for quick reference. I too also keep the manual in my camera pack. Never know when you will have to reference it.

Here is the timer with the type plug on the XS and XSi and 350d.
