Would a Celestron Skyscout help me?

As an amateur, I was considering purchasing the Celestron Skyscout to help me identify celestial bodies.  But because I live in the city and have a problem with light pollution while using my telescope, would the Skyscout have the same problem?  Would light pollution affect its effectiveness, or is it still a good idea?  Can anyone help with this question?

hello, i'm new to this whole astronomy business too, so i purchased one, and i have to say it is awesome, you don't have to deal with charts or maps, you can either use the identify function to have it explain what you see, or you can have it locate things for you, which is my favorite cause then you get an idea of where it is in the sky and you can point your telescope right to it. i bought mine at buy.com i got it for $147 with free shipping, i think for the money and the functionability of this thing you can't go wrong. but of course i'm sure any experienced star gazer wouldn't need this but as a noob i love it. :)
