Orion Plossl Eyepieces, Sirius or Highlights?

I have a question about these Orion Plossl Eyepieces.

    and

The difference in the Eyepieces are that the Sirius Plossls are Fully Coated and the Highlight Plossls are Fully Multi-Coated. Is it worth it to spend more on the Highlights because of the better coatings? Will there be that much of a visual difference between the Sirius and Highlights in a smaller Telescope?

My advice is to always get the best eyepieces you can afford, because as you upgrade your telescope in future years, you won't need to upgrade eyepieces.  Now, that being said, I have a couple of the Sirius eyepieces and am very happy with them in all my scopes.  I've never compared the Highlights with the Sirius side-by-side, but doubt if the difference in the view would be very great, unless you were doing some viewing which really pushed the limits of your scope in terms of faint detail and contrast.  At the outer limits of visibility there might be a noticable difference.

The most common problems which seperate low quality eyepieces from better EPs have to do with internal reflections.  Since both of these eyepiece families have anti-reflection coatings and blackened lens edges, I don't think reflections will be a problem.  I have no reflection problems with my Sirius plossls.

I hope this helps, and remember, it's just one man's opinion.

years ago i compared at least 10mm plossls i had, i used a 9.25 and observed jupiter and saturn looking best resoution, i felt the sirius plossl was near the bottom and thought my 10mm MA from a a tasco did a better job. a FMC plossl will be less problematic also having more contrast, but id suggest for a simple 10mm the parks gold, celestron ultima, antares elite were pretty tuff to beat at that time, im not sure whats available at present, but you may also want to consider the TMB planetary EP, its low priced also with great performance, i only have the 8mm in that series but felt it did a little better then my 7.7mm super abbe ortho-- not that any EP's were 'bad'- i doubt youd notice any difference in a smaller scope with the differences being minute. but any improvement, as small as it might seem- helps

I have a 26mm Highlight Plossl and it outperforms the 25mm Celestron Plossl that came with my scope.  The Highlight is very well made, focuses well, and has no internal reflections or distortions.  Of course this is a low power eyepiece.

The Highlights are made better than the Sirius Plossls and would be worth the little bit extra cost.

I would also suggest taking a peek at the Opt "house brand" Plossls as they seem to be getting good reviews for those looking for capable eyepieces that are easy on the wallet.

Thanks for the replys. I think I will give the Highlights a try. In the past I've owned some Sirius Plossls Eyepieces and they were very good.
