My first M2 and M15 (appalling conditions)

Where to start....viewing conditions started out as a 3 (at best) and worked their way down to simply deplorable. (I'd actually rate the sky as a "1" out of 5 but, I thought that was reserved for a torrential downpour.) By the time I gestured both fingers to the sky, Jupiter had a halo, much like the full moon on a misty night. Add to this the fun of a dying battery in my tracking motor to produce a "tugging" effect on my images and light pollution so bad it was like a flashlight in my eyes and VOILA!!!  = Total poo poo.

M2 at minimal exposure for obvious reasons. The only reason I am posting is so when I get a semi-decent picture, I can show everyone how good I got the tracking (when the motor's working...) on my dob.

M15, exact same sludgey conditions...(note the "tugging" effect)

Sometimes it doesn't matter what we do, the conditions just won't allow what we'd like. I commend your effort, even with the murky skies. At least you were out there trying.  A bad night beneath the stars is better than any night stuck inside in front of the tube.

I appreciate you sharing your attempts.  Since I don't image, I can't fully understand all that is involved in that side of the hobby. But this helps me better understand the complexity and challenges you go through to get those rewarding and awesome results that you guys post.  I look forward to seeing the comparisons in these two objects in your future posts. So... thanks for posting.

It is amazing you got anything at all!

You must be one stubborn fellow.

Personally, I would have packed the camera away and just used the old eyeball to enjoy the view, such as it was.

    Kudos to you Starwolf,

I feel your pain.  I haven't been able to image anything but the underside of clouds since the end of September.  At least you got something.   Very frustrating......and it doesn't look like it's going to get better anytime soon.

    Keep smiling.  LOL

They're good starts, lets hope you can finish. For minimal exposures the resalution of stars at the edges of the objects are good.

To be honest it is not all that bad. Good try!

Thanks all for the compliments. I guess with shots like this, it only gets better.
