SUNSPOT GROUP - Sol is Back!

    14:33 UTC.

Just come in from observing the sun in WL and H-alpha.

The sunspot groups continue to build, and there is a cracker on the solar disc today.
(Looks like we can cancell plans for the ice-fairs on the Thames this autumn).

In my 20cm the group is big and well developed, lots of medium sized ubrae within prenumbral haloes and many small spots without any surroundings contad 29 umbrae in all. What would have been the Large sized main spot is split intwo 4/5 seperate umbrae within the deep prenumbra.

With the PST, the group shows all the medium sized spots surrounded by a concentrated area of plages, and a long thich filliament reaching away from close to the main spot, which looks singular and large. Couple of prominences (small and faint) down on the lower right limb, but not much happening away from the main spot.

A good one to watch develop.   Mick, Isle Of Wight - UK

Flare activity is diminishing according to the article at http://www.spaceweather.com/ but AR 10024 still was quite evident this afternoon, as seen through my Coronado PST and 8-24mm Tele Vue zoom eyepiece.
