    Jupiter Last Night (7-18)

I had pretty good luck for most of the night last night.  Unfortunately my telescope starts tracking poorly when an object gets too close to the south pole.  So, everything after this timeframe was very difficult to capture - maybe I have some others I can post but we'll have to see.

Here's an RGB image of Jupiter followed by a red filter image only.  The seeing was decent - maybe 7-8.  These images are at F/25 using my 11" SCT and Imaging Source mono USB camera.  They are not resized, this is what I get from IC Capture to Maxim DL to Photoshop Elements.

The red filter image has a lot of increased contrast to show detail.  I wanted to show the area where the Little Red Spot was last seen.  Sorry for the aesthetics!

Nice shot, I thought that would be some decent seeing somewhere last night. It wasn't in my backyard though.

By the way, if your setup is as you mentioned in the Juno thread (0.14"/pix), then you're really running closer to f/29.

Oh, OK, thanks for checking my logic against reality.  The Televue 2.5x Powermate is the only Powermate whose magnification drops as the focus position from the top surface increases.  So, maybe it's the Orion filter wheel's thickness or the Williams Optics 10/1 focuser?  They keep my camera pretty far away from the scope.  Appreciate it!

Geez, that image was kinda small... HAHAHAHA. (Just kidding.) Very nice large shot indeed.
