    USB wall pass through

Does anyone have any idea of how I can pass a usb connection through an outside wall?  I have my scope outside and I am trying to operate it from inside the house.  I know I've seen similar things done but I can't find anything specific.  Right now I rub the cable through my sliding door but I was hoping for something a little less hazardous.

Look into getting a wireless USB hub. Linksys or Netgear makes some good Wireless stuff.

As John suggested, wireless may be the way to go. There is a USB wall plate, but they are rather pricey.

Here's another one I found that's more like a standard plate, and less costly.

Just to close the loop on this.  I went out an got a IOgear 4 port wireless USB hub.  It was designed to do exactly what I wanted to do, which was to talk to multiple USB devices wirelessly at normal USB2.0 speeds.  It was also very pricy ($182 including tax)

When I got everything up and running my computer would recognize my two DSI cameras and my telescope connection but the software for the hub would not.  If I tried to use any of them I would get errors from windows pertaining to communication problems.  I work with it for a while but simple could not get it to work.  Gave up and returned it.

I guess it is back to looking for a wall pass-thru!

    Re: USB wall pass through

if you have to go through the wall, why not use a short piece of EMT conduit.  you can drill a 1/2" hole in the wall - slide the conduit through - and silicon caulk around where the conduit sticks out.  then you can get a rubber stopper or something similar to plug the conduit when you're not using it to keep it sealed.

This may be a bit too late, but may help someone else. When using any type of USB hub with your scope or camera, make sure its a POWERED USB HUB. Meaning you ahve to plug in your USB hub into the wall. If not you can almost gaurantee to get some sort of error. Most cameras require a lot of power.
