    lens filters

    hello everyone,

do any of you know if there is such a thing as an Halpha filter for just a pentax 50mm lens?  do they only make them for telescopes?  or the alternative i guess would be any good filters out there for light pollution that can be used on this lens size?

    thank you for any ideas.

H-alpha photographic filters are available in a variety of sizes and some will fit standard camera lenses. You may need a photographic filter step-up adapter ring to make the filter fit lenses of sizes not listed by the filter maker.

Here is a link to a page at Lumicon's Web site, for example.

These filters are not for solar use ... that is, they will work for photographing the h-alpha emissions from nebulae but do not block enough light for use when photographing the Sun.

    hey alright!

thanks alot, i think the two inch filter will fit perfectly.  thanks this should help out pretty good.  we dont have a lot of light pollution in the area unless the humidity gets up there.

    thanks again.

Do understand these are photographic filters. They will make the view very dark. VERY dark.

these filters are best suited for using a CCD in mono, what size filter are you looking for?-- and are you meaning a broadband LP filter for longer exposures?
