What is your favorite object in the universe?

I would have to say that my favorite object in the universe would definitely have to be supermassive black holes.  I say this because these are objects that are anywhere between 2 million and 5 billion solar mases crammed into a space the size of our solar system.  These objects also provide us with bright quasars as they feed on gases and stars that stray too close to them and provide a light show for the entire universe to see, and a very beautiful light show at that.  While they may seem destructive, new theories suggest that supermassive black holes may be what helped in the creation of galaxies back early in the universe's history.  So this would suggest that these seemingly destructive, suppermassive behemoths are actually responsible for creating the universe as we know it today(and that includes us too!)  Without supermassive black holes, would stars have as easily clustered into galaxies?  Without these supermassive black holes, the universe may be vastly different than it is today.  Everything would have went much differently, and most likely, the random events that occurred that led to the creation of the sun and our solar system, would not have happened.  So I say we owe our existance not just to a supernova explosion that led to our solar system's creation, but the supermassive black hole in the center of our galaxy as well.  I tend to think of supermassive black holes as great creators, rather than ultimate destroyers.

It is an interesting theory, I have watched many documentaries about supermassive black holes that have stated that galaxies were created with the creation of these supermassive black holes.  So it isn't my theory, it is what i have learned by watching documentaries, but i do think that the universe would be far different without them, perhaps no galaxies even.

pulsars/neutron stars... intergalactic light houses. would be neat if they emitted visible light.

My favorite object changes as my interest and attention s turned to different things. Can't say I have an all time "favorite", but I think the spiral galaxies are really cool. Too bad Andromeda is coming to get us! I found out the whole Milky Way will be ripped apart in 2 Billion years. Man thats depressing!

I also like Saturn and Jupiter, but thats because I'm trying to capture images of those.

I don't like black holes... they are very interesting, but too scary! There's some pretty good google video documentaries on rogue and supermassive black holes, have you checked them out.
