    Death Valley, anyone?

Greetings from the Los Angeles area. A friend and I are curious to know if there is an astronomy club that heads out to Death Valley. Maybe the third week of April? Please reply if you know of such events (or would like to plan one). Clear skies everyone!

I don't know, but Death Valley has to be one of the prime locales on this planet for seeing. You are lucky to live close enough to go there. Dave Sylvan Beach NY

I know John Dobson frequented Death Valley on a number of excursions. You might try http://www.sidewalkastronomers.com/

I have observed near there, but never in Death Valley proper. i do have a Death Valley visitor's guide packed away somewhere though. Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

We Californians are lucky for having such awesome observing sites away from light pollution. I usually observe from Joshua Tree National Park but want to visit Death Valley.

This is an interesting article penned by John Dobson in 1973. "Dying Stars Viewed From Death Valley." http://www.johndobson.org/articles/dyingstars.html

I go to Joshua Tree pretty often, usually Cottonwood. Less than an hour from my house. Where do you go in JT?
