    NASA After School Astronomy Clubs

    Greetings,

I am Lou Mayo, an astronomer at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. I run a local after school astronomy club at Sligo Creek Elementary School in Silver Spring and work with the Sun Earth Connection Education Forum. I would like to introduce you to the NASA After School Astronomy Clubs Network. These are clubs that are specifically focussed on kids in grades K - 12 and often (though not always) occur during the day time in an after school setting. We have now 78 member clubs from 11 countries including the majority of the clubs in the US. Our network of clubs can be accessed at:

    http://afterschoolastronomy.org

There you will find lists of astronomy content resources, club activities, information on grant funding, and ideas and guidelines on how to run a club.

If you have an after school astronomy club or would like to start one and would like to join our network, click on "Register Your Club". You can view a list of our registered clubs through our "Running A Club" link and can join our yahoogroups discussion news group as well.

The NASA After School Astronomy Club Network is supported by a grant from NASA through their IDEAS space science education program.

    Best Regards,
    Lou Mayo

Thanks for the post Lou, I visited the site and it was great. Wish there were more such sites around.
