    Angry [:(!] Film Suggestions.

I need some new film suggestions please for use with my Canon AE-1. I have already tried Fuji Extra 800 and had some success with it. The other film I tried over the weekend was Kodak 200 Elite Chrome slide film and well not one of the slides came outDisapprove [V]. So I need to find some new filmsto try out, any suggestions?

    RE: Film Suggestions.

E200 is one of the best films out there for Film based Astrophotography. I myself prefer Fuji Privia 400F. At any rate, a good colour negative film is Fuji Super HQ-200. I've also had some luck with Fuji NPH-400.

I use Fuji Super HQ-200. I put it with some Kodak Gold 200 shots I had taken, there was no comparison. They were both the same camera, lens, object (Orion), site, and length of exposure. In otherwords, the film was the only variable. The Kodak shots were very dim, and the nebula was a faint gray smudge. On the Fuji film, The nebula was bursting with color, and the stars were incredibly bright, rounded and 3-D looking. I thought it was cool! The Fuji Super HQ-200 is dirt cheap (at Ritz anway). $7 for a pack of 6 rolls of 24 exposures each. That's about 5c a shot!

These two films are the only two films I've tried though, Fuji Super-HQ 200 might not be the best film out there, although it is pretty darn good. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I respectively disagree. Fuji Provia 400F is in my opinion the best film out there right now for astrophotography. It beats the SHQ-200 all the time. The problem is that it is a slide film and not everyone likes dealing with slides these days. In the colour negative arena, until I found SHQ-200 to work well, I did not like any of the Fuji Colour Neg films (for astrophotography). I have not tried the Agfa however so will give it a try the next time I buy film.

The link does not work. Where can I find centuria 800. Is it a slide film?

sorry, i put the wrong pic up, doesnt matter though- cheapest place if you include shipping is bhphoto, its called konica minolta centuria super- i use the 800ISO, but just got some of the 1600 speed, havent tried it yet- it seems the 1600 doesnt need any push-processing- these are color negative print films- no special processing required only that you finish it yourself with a scan and photoshop

I use both Kodak E200 and Fuji 400F Provia all the time. Fuji is my general favorite, but E200 has it's uses too.

You can find lot's of examples with these two films on my site at:

E200 has amazing red sensitivity. Provia 400 matches up nearly.

Superia Xtra is an extremely good negative film BTW. Try that sometime.
