Planning on getting my first telescope and I&amp;#39;m stuck between the celestron c6-rgt and c8-sgt. Which one is a better imaging scope? My goal is for prime focus deep-sky objects (galaxies and nebulas and so forth). I think i&amp;#39;ve read too many articles on this stuff and confusing myself more and more.
Or if there are any other suggestions within that prince range ($1500 at most), i&amp;#39;d like to hear them. My camera is a Canon rebel Xsi if that means anything in picking one or the other.

&lt;p&gt;I have a Celestron C80ED on a CG-5 mount with a Skywatcher 80 as a guide scope, I am using the Starshoot Autoguider connected to the Autoguide port of the mount and Cannot seem to get a good calibration.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;During the calibration, the W Calibration goes successfully, the E Calibration however, for the first two steps the star remains in the square although the square moves, on the 3rd or 4th step the star moves far out of the box&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I have also noticed, with the guide port disconnected and the camera still capturing, and the tracking on the mount set to North, the stars move down the picture on the screen, if I disable tracking on the mount the stars travel up the screen, and if I set the mount&amp;#39;s tracking to South then the stars move faster up the screen.&amp;nbsp; I don&amp;#39;t get what&amp;#39;s wrong here, surely the stars should not move down the screen when tracking north, they should be as close to remaining on the same place albeit travelling left or right if polar alignment isn&amp;#39;t done right&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;To assist you further,I don&amp;#39;t think that I&amp;#39;ll be spending thousands of pounds on my new hobby.Having said that,I might change my mind &amp;amp; fall in love with astronomy &amp;amp; spend shed loads.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I&amp;#39;d really like to see planets like Jupiter as more than just another &amp;#39;star&amp;#39;.Clear visibility of the rings of Saturn would be nice as well.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;And if I really like how things go with a portable telescope then I would consider buying larger models for both the UK &amp;amp; Cyprus.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In recent years,I discussed this issue with&amp;nbsp;a chap in a shop in Truro who suggested that equipment valued at about £250 would satisfy my requirements.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;div class="product_image"&gt;I am completely new to Astronomy and have just purchased the new Celestron CGEM 11&amp;quot; Scope with the German Equatorial mount, Skymaster 15x70 binoculars, AC adapter, Zhumell T-Ring - Nikon, and Celestron T Adapter Universal 1 1/4 Inch for my Nikon DSLR Digital Camera.&amp;nbsp; I curently have the Nikon DSLR D-200 Camera with several lenses and also a very seldom used&amp;nbsp; Nikon SLR camera.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; My intrest is of course to learn to use the scope and then learn astrophotography.&amp;nbsp; I have no idea what to purchase along with what I already have and would love a recomended list of filters, lenses, GPS or no GPS, polar scope or no polar scope, autofinder or what ever they are called or not.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Actually getting the camera apart and &amp;quot;installing&amp;quot; the Mogg Adaptor was easy.&amp;nbsp; The filter I&amp;#39;m using is an IR Filter Block, also from Mogg Adaptors.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;My problems started when I got outside and started trying to take pictures.&amp;nbsp; Here&amp;#39;s what happened.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;1)&amp;nbsp; I could not get Jupiter in focus.&amp;nbsp; I could focus it into a crisp image in the telescope itself, but after putting the webcam in the scope I could not get it into a good focus in &lt;strong&gt;wxAstroCapture&lt;/strong&gt; on my laptop.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;2)&amp;nbsp; There was no color in my image.&amp;nbsp; It looked like a white blurry blob.&amp;nbsp; I thought the IR filter was supposed to help keep true color?&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;3)&amp;nbsp; The image would freeze here and there in &lt;strong&gt;wxAstroCapture&lt;/strong&gt;, making it difficult to sometimes even find the object.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;4)&amp;nbsp; With my 2x Barlow lens on, it was next to impossibel to get it in the frame and focus it in time.&amp;nbsp; By the time I did, it already moved out of the frame.&amp;nbsp; It seemed like the field of view on the laptop screen was more narrow then the FOV in the telescope itself.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Then I had more problems using &lt;strong&gt;Registax&lt;/strong&gt; once I got back inside.&amp;nbsp; This could be due to me not knowing what I&amp;#39;m doing yet.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;4)&amp;nbsp; Every optimized image it created looked as bad, if not worse, than the worst looking frame.&amp;nbsp; I thought it was supposed to discard the worst looking images and make a composite from the rest, creating a more detailed picture than what you actually saw on the laptop screen.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;5)&amp;nbsp; The image it did create was only 256K.&amp;nbsp; Blowing it up, or zooming in, even the slightest bit started to degrade the image.&amp;nbsp; Once again it seemed like it was creating a real lousy image.&amp;nbsp; Take the worst frame, blur it a bit, and that&amp;#39;s the image I got in the end.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;------&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I guess I&amp;#39;m most concerned about #1 and #2.&amp;nbsp; I probably don&amp;#39;t have the ins and outs figured out yet with Registax.&amp;nbsp; But, if a white blurry blob is the best I can expect of my images with this equipment, I think this will be a short lived hobby.&amp;nbsp; I&amp;#39;m using a 4-inch Newtonian by Meade by the way.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Also, are &lt;strong&gt;wxAstroCapture&lt;/strong&gt; and &lt;strong&gt;Registax&lt;/strong&gt; the best programs to be using?&amp;nbsp; &lt;strong&gt;Registax&lt;/strong&gt;&amp;nbsp;seemed about as user friendly as a car with no steering wheel.&lt;/p&gt;

This scope looks to me that it should be good for viewing everything from planets to nebula and gallaxies, however i am a noob and would greatly appreciate expert opinions.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Also i want to get a camera for the astrophotography but this is puzzleing to me. Im currently looking at the Celestron NexImage &lt;a href="http://www.telescopes.com/telescope-accessories/digital-imaging/celestronneximagesolarsystemimagerwsoftware.cfm"&gt;http://www.telescopes.com/telescope-accessories/digital-imaging/celestronneximagesolarsystemimagerwsoftware.cfm&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;but I want to know if it will be able to take nice pictures of nebulas and galaxies as well as planets with this camera. Again i am a complete noob at this and have no proior experiance. I dont want to spend a ton of money of this but i want something that will allow me to view galaxies and nebula and be able to take decent pictures.&lt;/p&gt;
