A member reminded us today that there is a 2012 movie coming out. So in the interest of being proactive, is it worth contacting the publisher to have them add a banner, or a paragraph to web site informing current and new members that 2012 is discouraged from being talked about. The banner or paragraph could be place on the home page and again in the forum section.

Not sure if a moderator needs to contact the publisher or if a member can, but I would be glad to send them an email. However, I wanted to see what the folks on this forum site thought first. I'm flying to AZ on Sunday for a week and can send the email when I get back if there is enough member input.

Thanks ,,,,, Have Fun!!!

1. Einstein

2. Cavendish

3. Maxwell

alot of u may wonder why i put Cavendish so high.. i read a book about great scientific accomplishments of the past, and i was amazed at everything they said about his accomplishments and about all the things he proved well before other actually got the credit for them.. it was amazing to think of all he did in the 1700s

The meaning is still conveyed, and we don’t want it in our forum. Please keep in mind that we have readers of all ages. This isn’t a tavern.

No personal attacks or name-calling. Please keep conversations cordial. We understand that there will be differences of opinion. Please don’t let those differences turn ugly. Accept that others might not have your same point of view, and don’t sink to personal attacks. Nothing is gained by doing so.

No political discussions or signature messages. We know politics sometimes affects astronomy. However, we’ve found that political discussions almost always turn into arguments. We have a common interest in astronomy. Don’t let political differences destroy that common bond.

No religious discussions or signature messages. This is for many of the same reasons as the political discussions and signatures. We all have our own personal views, and this isn’t the place to share them. Remember, this is an astronomy forum.
No inappropriate images or videos. If you choose to post photos or links to videos, please keep them astronomy-related and use your best judgment.- Don’t use our forums as a means of promoting your forum (or online group, sweepstakes, prize drawings, contests, etc.). Regular energy which we get from for example the sun, cannot be created, but neither can it be destroyed. When its used it just changes shape. Now dark energy is something that expands space. When dark energy has expanded some space, the dark energy doesn't change shape like regular energy, but it reproduces itself to the double amout or more, and then the dark energy that just was produced do the same, and it goes in this circle for eternity. This way the universe keeps expanding all the time =D

Please say what you think about my theory =)

Most Difficult Sky Object

What is the most difficult deep-sky object you've ever seen and how did you eventually find it?

Favorite Hubble Images?

I'd have to go with the Hubble Ultra-Deep Field. That is SUCH a fascinating picture!! I've tried in vain many times to explain to friends who don't know much about astronomy the magic in that photo, and just how far back you are looking in time. Everything looks so close together and compact, and most of the galaxies look like they still young and forming into the beautiful spirals and ellipticals we see today. Also, I just have to mention The Pillars Of Creation. I know that's a pretty common favorite, but its beauty is undeniable. How about you, what are your faves?
