I found a good internet guide on step by step making of a telescope, looks pretty good, and shows you how to make everything, including the spiders, and the base (also gives info about the calculations needed, which I could not find anywhere else)

Im sure this will help alot of people who cannot find a guide for building their own telescope.

Im going to be building a 20" Telescope soon.

Hi,

The advice you have received so far is pretty good. You should also be able to find lots of material on the www. I have seen lots of telescope building sites; some give pretty good details, others are a bit vague. Just try searching the net as a first step in your process. If you can't find what you require on line, then hit the librabry and find the already mentioned books. Richard Berry wrote a great 3 part Dobsonian building article in the June-Aug Astronomy issues (1980). You could try to order a reprint. You can also look at my website (address in the signature). This will give you an overview of what you are getting into.

"making and enjoying telescopes' is a good book, if outdated. It has plans for building four or five different telescopes.

The ins and outs of building a telescope are far too complex to be covered step by step in a post, but there are books. One popular book that does cover the topic step-by-step is "Building the Dobsonian Telescope" by Dave Kriege and Richard Berry. As John mentioned, a trip to the library might be in order.

That's a tall order! You don't even state what type of telescope you would like to make. A trip to the library would be in order.

Can someone post a step-by-step guide in here as how to build a telescope.

I looked all over and cannot find anything on this.

And was wondering if we could make it easier and have a step-by-step instruction posted here.

Im interested in Building a Dobsonian, as they have been mentioned alot and seem the easier one to do.
