    Star magnitudes

Is there a list of non variable stars or stars that vary a limited amount(.1, .2 mag) to compare to variable stars?   What would be a stable star to compare to algol, etc.  I would like to know at least 2 or 3 in each constellation for references.

The Landolt photometric reference star fields would help. You can Google that phrase for a link.

There are a couple of other catalogs of reference stars, and they're used by folks doing critical photometric work. Of course, one goal of such work is plotting light curves of variable stars.

A good book on this topic is Brian D. Warner's book on plotting light curves.
