    Heylo!

    Heylo everyone

My name is Shelley. I've always been astounded by outer space. Everything about it is amazing. Our galaxy, other galaxies, stars, planets, comets, asteroids, dust and gases, just simply everything...

My friend, one time asked me "If the government were to ask for volunteers to go outer space and try some new technology and one of the high risks was death, would you do it?" and I answered her "Of course I would! Even just a glimpse of outer space for me would put me to a happy, peaceful death IF that were to happen. I'd be the first volunteer to DIE if it meant going outer space even for 1 minute."

So if that doesn't show how passionate I am about knowing everything and wanting to be outer space, then I don't know what is! :P

I hope to get a lot out of this site. Thanks for reading!

    Re: Heylo!

HI!  You almost sound like me.  Every time I step into my backyard and look up into the night sky I feel like a small part of something very great.  Although I am an amateur astronomy buff, what really brought this home to me was going on the NASA website and watching a video about the Hubble telescope.  It took a photo of deep space, as deep as any telescope has ever explored.  It displayed galaxies that have existed almost at the point of the beginning of time.  Astronomy is what relaxes me after I come home from a stressful day at work.  Now if I can only get better at identifying stuff!  Last night, I saw 2 moons of Jupiter!  I started jumping up and down- my kids thought I was nuts!  Nice to meet you!

    Re: Heylo!

There is a free astronomical program that will show you the night sky and help you to identify what you are looking at. It is Stellarium. Just google it and go to the site and download. Very nice program. You can change it to show what the heavens look like last night last week last year or next year.

Also you can use the Search Community on the side panel to look for topics already discussed on the forums, like what are some good books to read or what you need to look for when purchasing a telescope or binoculars.

    Good Luck and Good Views
