    Re: Halloween in Space

    Cheers Alan.

Your title here reminds me of a story from my childhood… Our nun (yes, catholic school) in about the third grade decided to split the class into two groups, boys and girls, and have us create separate plays about All Hallows’ Eve.

Well, when we (the boys) did our play it was called… (drum roll please…) Halloween on Mars, and now that I’m thinking about it could have been Easter on Mars... Either way, it involved us boys breaking into two groups, one on each side of the classroom, and then on cue charging towards each other while swinging imaginary swords…

Needless to say she (the nun) was not amused and began yelling for us to ‘stop’ and ‘that’s not what I meant’…

Ahhh… holidays in space and the exuberance of youth.

    Thanks for the memory…

This is a great Halloween poster.  What is noce too is that while it is whimsical the artist knows something about astronomy as the details are correct, seeing the bats through the rings for example, is a very nice touch.

    Thanks for the smile,

    L

Ravening clouds shall not long be victorious, They shall not long possess the sky, they devour the stars only in apparition, Jupiter shall emerge, be patient, watch again another night, the Pleiades shall emerge, They are immortal, all those stars both silvery and golden shall shine out again, The great stars and the little ones shall shine out again, they endure, The vast immortal suns and the long-enduring pensive moons shall again shine.
